Resolutions are the same year after year: I want to lose 20 pounds, I want to exercise every morning, I want to quit smoking and start using the stairs instead of the elevator. While these are all good things, resolutions can tend to become huge goals that are set up for failure. A goal of losing five pounds and eating more raw vegetables is a great goal that can be accomplished with some will power, but a goal of losing 30 pounds by spring puts too much pressure on one's self, and not meeting a goal can lead to giving up all together. We all have the power within us to make a positive and wonderful change in our lives, starting with what goes into our bodies. Eating healhty is so simple, yet so many Americans turned to processed, fast foods and sugary snacks to fulfill hunger. Let's make 2012 the year to eat more organic foods and nutritious fruits and vegetables. Let's turn our after-school cookie into a serving of chocolate pudding made from avocados! Throw out that greasy burger and trade it in for a veggie wrap. Your heart and your health will thank you, and you'll shed those extra few pounds without even trying.
